Dr. Bourgeois is a board-certified osteopathic family medicine physician with a passion for helping others and a lifelong love of learning. Her interest in medicine began in childhood, when she watched family members receive care in the hospital and became curious about their medical conditions and how she might one day help others. By third grade, she had declared that she wanted to become a doctor—a dream that only grew stronger over time.

Dr. Bourgeois completed her undergraduate studies at Michigan State University, where she studied Nutritional Sciences with a specialization in Bioethics, Humanities, and Society. She went on to earn her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Des Moines University.

Dr. Bourgeois discovered her passion for Family Medicine during a rural family medicine rotation, where she fell in love with the breadth of the specialty and the meaningful relationships physicians build with their patients. She pursued postgraduate training in Family and Community Medicine, completing her residency as well as a one-year fellowship in Primary Care Psychiatry at the University of California, Davis.

Eventually, Dr. Bourgeois returned to her Michigan roots, settling in Kalamazoo, where she spent several years caring for City of Kalamazoo employees and their families in an employer-based clinic. Today, she is the founder of Sage Family Medicine, where she is able to provide high-quality, personalized care and build the kind of meaningful, lasting relationships with patients that are at the heart of traditional family medicine.

Her professional interests include lifestyle medicine, osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM), women’s health, and geriatrics. She also enjoys teaching and serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Bourgeois enjoys gardening, cooking, reading, music, and spending time with her husband and their two dogs.
